PHP Website Developer (Full-time)

Position Summary:

Are you well-versed in PHP and looking for work in a start-up environment? Does the idea of writing code with sound software design principles, well-built frameworks, and extensive scalability appeal to you? Do you wince at the idea of PHP as just a scripting language? This is the position for you!

As a PHP developer at Tilted Pixel you will have the opportunity to take-on many projects and roles, from building a diverse range of website development projects for Tilted Pixel clients to developing the core software that makes Tilted Pixel websites tick. The chosen candidate will have a passion for writing quality code, want to continuously improve the website development process, enjoy the unique and challenging work environment of a start-up, and look forward to advancing with the company.

This is a fulltime position available immediately in Waterloo.

Essential Qualifications

• Intermediate-to-advanced level of experience with PHP 5 and mySQL, including object-oriented development.
• Comfortable writing standards-compliant XHTML code.
• General familiarity with and interest in emerging web development trends.
• Proven time-management skills in independent work setting.
• Demonstrable communication skills and professionalism.
• A degree is nice, but proof you know (and love) web development is more important.

Additional Assets

• Knowledge of AJAX, Flash, Google Maps, or other web-related technologies is a plus.
• Experience with Symfony, CakePHP, Zend, or other website development framework.
• Experience and willingness to communicate directly with clients on projects.
• Able to manipulate images with graphical editing software.
• Development experience in other programming languages.
